Music, poetry and laughter – something for your weekend‏

Ian McMillan Orchestra Sharp Stories

“A fabulous poet and performer. My ribs hurt all the next day,” Off The Shelf.

Don’t miss our headline guest this Sunday evening (Oct 18, 8pm) at the Dukes Theatre, Lancaster – The Ian McMillan Orchestra. With poetry, comedy and music, it’s the perfect way to round off the weekend.

Described by Radio 2 DJ Mark Radcliffe as a ‘jovial poetic troll’, Ian’s a regular on television and radio – on Newsnight Review, the Mark Radcliffe Show, the Today Programme, You and Yours, Any Questions, Just a Minute, and Have I got News for You?

For litfest he joins forces with his mighty orchestra to present a scintillating night of poems, music, comedy and impro – like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

‘One of my all-time heroes – he’s such a talented bloke, I could kill him’ – Mike Harding.

Book online via The Duke’s website or by calling their box office on 0845 344 0642. Tickets are £12 (£8 concessions).

Dave Simpson, Peter Wild and Michel Faber

Fans of John Peel’s favourite band, The Fall, can’t miss this. Niall Griffiths will not be appearing, but best-selling author Michel Faber has confirmed that he will be reading at the event. Fact and fiction inspired by the post-punk cult band.

There’s plenty more on offer at litfest – whether you want beautiful poetry, page-turning novels, haunting short fiction or ghastly goings-on!
